Fare & confirmation

Helicopter fare is not included. Kedarnath helicopter tickets are available on request, subject to seat availability and fare at the time of booking.

Reporting & ID

Passengers must report at Phata Helipad at least one hour before the booked helicopter slot. Original identification documents and the documents used for the helicopter booking must be carried by every passenger. The booked slot represents the reporting schedule; actual flying time may change due to weather, aviation clearance or operational conditions.

Baggage & weight

For the Kedarnath helicopter journey, each passenger may carry up to 5 kg of baggage. Passengers should carry only a small soft backpack or duffle bag, as bulky luggage, trolley bags and hard-shell suitcases are not suitable for helicopter travel due to limited cabin space and operational weight restrictions. Passenger body weight is also checked at the helipad; as per current IRCTC HeliYatra guidelines, passengers weighing above 80 kg are required to pay an additional 150 per kg for excess body weight. Final baggage acceptance and weight-related conditions remain subject to the confirmed helicopter operator's rules on the date of travel.

Ground transfer

Road transfer from Guptkashi to Phata Helipad and return to Guptkashi is planned as part of Day 3 of this Kedarnath Badrinath Yatra Package from Delhi. Transfers remain subject to local road, traffic and access conditions on the day of operation. Guests should follow the reporting schedule communicated by the tour coordinator so that sufficient time is available for helipad formalities.

Weather disruption

Kedarnath helicopter operations are strictly weather and operational dependent. Flights may be delayed, suspended or cancelled because of adverse weather, poor visibility, technical reasons, aviation restrictions or government orders. If a booked helicopter service is cancelled, passengers from that particular slot are not automatically carried forward to the next slot. Any further travel arrangement will depend on fresh availability and instructions from the helicopter operator.

Refund handling

Refunds are governed by the cancellation policy applicable to the confirmed IRCTC HeliYatra booking. For voluntary cancellation, the currently published policy provides 75% of the ticket booking amount when cancelled more than 5 days before departure, 50% between 48 hours and 5 days, 25% between 24 and 48 hours, and no refund for cancellation within 24 hours or for a no-show. If the helicopter service itself is cancelled because of bad weather, technical reasons or government orders, the applicable refund is processed as per the official IRCTC HeliYatra policy. Convenience, payment-gateway or other applicable transaction charges are governed by the booking portal's prevailing terms.

Child policy

Children aged 2 years and above are provided a separate seat and are charged the applicable full helicopter fare. An infant below 2 years is not charged a separate fare and is not provided a separate seat. Valid age proof, such as a birth certificate or Aadhaar where applicable, must be carried for verification at the helipad.

Helicopter service reduces the main trek requirement, but walking, waiting time, altitude exposure and local transfers may still be involved.

Senior citizens should plan the journey at a comfortable pace, keep regular medicines readily accessible and avoid unnecessary physical exertion. Adequate warm clothing, hydration and rest are especially important at Kedarnath and Badrinath due to the colder climate and higher altitude. Guests with existing medical concerns should consult their doctor before undertaking the yatra and carry relevant prescriptions and medicines throughout the tour. Helicopter operations and local movement remain subject to weather and operational conditions.

Weather & Road Advisory

The Kedarnath Badrinath route passes through high-altitude Himalayan terrain where weather and road conditions can change quickly. Rain, fog, landslides, traffic restrictions or local authority instructions may occasionally affect travel time, sightseeing and helicopter operations. Guests should keep some flexibility in their schedule and carry warm clothing and rain protection even during the regular yatra season. Road transfers, Kedarnath helicopter timings and Badrinath travel plans may be adjusted for passenger safety and prevailing local conditions.

Best Time for Badrinath Kedarnath Yatra

The period from the official temple opening to June, and again from September until the temple-closing dates, is generally preferred for this Dham Yatra. Always confirm the current year's temple dates, weather, road conditions and helicopter operations before travel.
