We stopped at a normal local restaurant for lunch and it was better than expected. A short WhatsApp update every evening would make the next morning easier. My mother was more comfortable than I expected on the longer drive.

Went with my husband and our daughter. We were more interested in a comfortable trip than ticking off every stop. Traffic was heavy near one town, but the rest of the day was relaxed. We stopped at a normal local restaurant for lunch and it was better than expected. The longer travel days were balanced with lighter sightseeing where possible. One small suggestion: confirm hotel and pickup details a little earlier. One thing I liked was that nobody objected when we asked to slow the day down a little.
