Went with my wife. We were more interested in a comfortable trip than ticking off every stop. We had rain for part of the day and the plan was adjusted reasonably. The children liked the cooler weather and the open spaces. One small suggestion: mention the longer driving days more clearly before departure. We also appreciated being able to take an extra tea break when my parents needed it.
